Research Fellow and PhD Candidate in Healthy Housing, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne

Biography

Erika is a Research Fellow in Healthy Housing and a PhD Candidate, as part of the Healthy Housing CRE, Centre for Health Policy, at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. Erika has over twenty years of professional activity in the built environment sector: as a designer, urban planner and GIS officer in both the private and public sector. Since following an academic path, Erika has developed a research program that seeks to advance evaluation frameworks to better leverage lived experience research – in turn advocating for increased corporate and state social responsibility in delivering healthy housing and social infrastructure. Erika’s current research explores how housing policy and programmes can promote housing as a violence-prevention and health-intervention infrastructure for marginalised groups through increased access to safe, affordable and quality housing.
