Biography

I am geographer with extensive professional expeience in the fields of urban development, sustainability and education for sustainable development (ESD). I have worked for a number of international organizations, including the United Nations University (UNU-IHDP); UNESCO and the United Nations Environment Programm (UNEP).

I hold a PhD in Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles. My dissertation, New Urban Spaces: Museums, Architecture and the Cultural Economy of Cities, focused on the cultural dimension of urbanization, looking at the ways cities use architecture and cultural infrastructures to promote urban growth and regeneration.
