James Helal

Edward Brown Award for Teaching Excellence

The Edward Brown Award is an annual, University-wide teaching award that recognises overall teaching excellence in any of the following fields: Architecture; Engineering; and Economics, Commerce and Business.

As a Lecturer in Construction Management, James coordinates a core undergraduate subject for the Construction Major in the Bachelor of Design titled Principles of Building and a core postgraduate subject for the Master of Construction Management titled Materials and Structures. For both these subjects, James has integrated innovative learning approaches, particularly using project-based learning techniques and adaptive online learning modules, and has sustained excellent student satisfaction levels, as evidenced by his historically high Subject Experience Survey (SES) results.

Congratulations James!
