The most recent issue of Charrette, the journal published by the association of architectural educators (aae), is now available.
Guest-edited by BEL+T’s own Dr. James Thompson, this special issue is titled “Flipping the Script: Foregrounding the architecture student.” Contributions explore themes of student agency, belonging and identity transformation, thereby shedding light on various under-acknowledged dimensions and perspectives of architectural education. As so much of architectural education remains a tacit, unspoken enterprise—contributing to the prevalent sense that ‘you had to be there’ to appreciate its intricacies—foregrounding the student experience of becoming an architect should spark considerable and critical reflection across the community.
