Melbourne CSHE professional development programs for graduate researchers and small-group teaching

The Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (Melbourne CSHE) is running two online professional development programs in teaching and learning in Semester 2.

All workshops will be held online. Please register for each workshop separately by clicking on the workshop link. You may participate in one or more workshops, and they may be attended in any order.

Foundations of Teaching and Learning for Graduate Researchers

The ‘Foundations of Teaching and Learning for Graduate Researchers’ series of workshops is aimed at currently-enrolled graduate researchers who are new to teaching, and will introduce the fundamentals of effective teaching for learning in higher education settings. These workshops run from 6-8 October.

For more details, please refer to the program page or contact Cathleen Benevento.

Graduate researchers are also able to find this information, and other options available from the BEL+T site, under Great Teaching at ABP>Progressive Practices. Further support, and teaching fundamentals, for graduate researchers can be found within the 2020 ABP Teaching Canvas Community.

Practical Workshop Series for Small-Group Teaching

These workshops are suitable for staff at the University of Melbourne who teach in small-group contexts or who would like to learn about these small-group teaching strategies in more depth. Current teaching responsibilities are not required for participation.

The ‘Practical Workshop Series for Small-Group Teaching’ workshops will each focus on one strategy involved in small-group teaching contexts such as tutorials. These workshops run from 14-20 October.

If you are new to university teaching, prior completion of the Foundations of Teaching & Learning series is strongly recommended.
