ABP Industry Mentoring Program

This program matches alumni and students in 1:1 pairs for a period of five months (July to November), with an expectation that both parties will meet at least three times throughout the duration of the program.

Applications for the 2023 ABP Industry Mentoring Program are opening mid-April.

Dee Ma and Kelvin Steel talk about their experience in the 2018 Pilot Mentoring Program for Women in Master of Construction Management.

Benefits

By being part of this program you will get the chance to ask questions and learn skills from an industry professional. If you have not worked before, you could use this opportunity to have professional interactions, learn about workplaces and start to understand the professional landscape ahead of you. If you have some work experience in a café, shop or business you could use this experience to broaden your knowledge about a career path or build on your professional skills.

This program will allow you to build:

  • Communication, networking and professional skills
  • Confidence in professional interactions
  • Knowledge of your field of interest or degree studied by asking questions about your career direction and different opportunities available to you
  • Professional networks through your mentor

The program is open to 2nd and 3rd-year Bachelor of Design students and all ABP graduate coursework students.

Mentors and students (mentees) are required to meet at least 3 times during the course of the mentoring program. Following all relevant health and safety guidelines, the University wishes to ensure that students who currently can't join us on campus are still able to apply. Please note that as such, we expect meetings to take place either online or face to face where practical and safe.

Note: This mentorship is to facilitate a professional relationship and is not designed to find you direct employment.
