Bachelor of Environments

The Civil (Engineering) Systems Handbook entry stipulates the complete requirements for the Civil Systems major. Always use the University Handbook as your primary course planning tool.

Important information about mathematics subjects

In the first year of the Bachelor of Environments, students intending on undertaking a Civil Systems major must complete the following subjects as their breadth subjects:

Students who have not completed VCE Specialist Mathematics 3/4 with a study score of 27+ will need to complete additional Level 1 mathematics studies.

Breadth restrictions in the Civil Systems major

Students undertaking the Civil Systems major are not permitted to take as breadth:

  • any Chemistry subjects
  • any Civil Engineering subjects
  • any Earth Science subjects
  • any Engineering subjects
  • any Geology subjects
  • any Geomatics subjects
  • any Mathematics and Statistics subjects - with the exception of MAST10006 Calculus 2 and MAST10027 Linear Algebra (and any required prerequisites for these subjects such as MAST10005 Calculus 1 and MAST10012 Introduction to Mathematics)
  • any Physics subjects
  • certain Level 2 and Level 3  Construction subjects

Further Study

Students who complete the Bachelor of Environments with a major in Civil Systems are eligible to apply for the two-year professional Master of Engineering (Civil), Master of Engineering (Civil with Business), Master of Engineering (Structural), or Master of Engineering (Environmental).
