Public Space Picnic: Learning from Memorials

In this series of outdoor conversations, speakers give a short tour of an overlooked public space or architectural feature at the University of Melbourne.
In this session, PhD Candidate Samuel Holleran will look at the built form of memorials—from 19th century obelisks to 21st century AR overlays—and it will ask whose memory is being preserved in these objects and spaces? And for how long are they meant to exist?
Meet at 2pm in front of Seven Seeds Coffee (114 Berkeley St), we will grab coffees and head north through University Square and the South Lawn, ending at College Crescent. The talk and tour will take approximately 50 minutes and cover 1.5 kilometres.
