Michael McMahon

Biography

Michael is a descendant of the Bundjalung people of North-East New South Wales and was born in Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory. After moving from Darwin he received his bachelor of Architecture from RMIT in 2014. Michael works for Denton Corker Marshall Architects and has served as a director of Indigenous Architecture and Design Victoria (IADV) since 2015. In 2018 he was awarded the Roberta Sykes Postgraduate Scholarship and will undertake a Masters of Architecture at the Royal College of Art in London. The belief that architecture can celebrate and strengthen Aboriginal culture by it giving both material and social consistency underpins Michael’s approach to architecture.
