The 2019 competition theme was “The Future of Construction: Intelligence, safety and green”. With supervision from Dr Gao Shang and Dr Ajibade Aibinu, the team presented on “Using Internet of Things (IOT) enabled wearable applications to monitor worker status on construction sites and improve decision-making”. Their presentation explored the opportunity of eliminating the inefficiency of experience led decisions using IoT and an integrated management platform created by the team called ‘Insite'. The team defined location, labour and health as three key pillars for the proposal as each pillar effectively represented workforce inefficiencies. The combination of people and technology within the project was given particular praise by the judging panel during the teams Q/A session.
