Dr Marian Mahat
Dr Marian Mahat is the lead Research Fellow for the Innovative Learning Environments and Teacher Change (ILETC) project, an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project. Led by leading academics of the University of Melbourne, the ARC Linkage project brings together 15 partners with expertise in education and learning environments seeking to support teachers in developing the most effective practices in modern classroom environments. As the Research Manager, Marian oversees all research activities and the dissemination of project findings including the management of Research Fellows and project PhD students. Marian has more than twenty years of professional and academic experience, spanning several Australian universities, the Australian Federal and local governments, the LH Martin Institute for Tertiary Leadership and Management, the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (MCSHE), as well as the private sector. Marian has made a significant contribution to higher education both at institutional and national levels through developing evidence-based strategic policy, providing advice to institutional leaders and policy makers as well as conducting analyses of issues affecting the higher education sector. Highly proficient in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, she has worked on collaborative projects, written numerous publications and presented in conferences in higher education. Marian was past Treasurer and Membership Secretary of the Australasian Association for Institutional Research.
