Broadfood

Access to fresh food becomes more localised and walkable in Broadmeadows.

Broadfood increases suburban residents’ walkable access to fresh, local produce, using a combination of sustainable delivery options and small-scale, dispersed food production.  The approach also increases the connections between local residents, using local frontyards to teach school students about gardening and establishing regular produce swaps and farmers’ markets.  The council supports the program through an easy-to-use website, as well as providing subsidised rainwater tanks and seeds to residents.
