Integrated & Sustainable Landscapes

Addressing homelessness with the development of integrated & sustainable living systems.

A staged redevelopment of the site that uses phytoremediation and community wellbeing and building as the development catalyst for a sustainable city-based community. The project looks at integrated habitats over time and creates both a native flora and fauna habitat and also public and private housing. Predicting a rise in community needs and public housing, the development aims to integrate some of the city’s most forgotten residents – the homeless – into the project, by providing shelter, encouraging community participation and developing land care skills. The project makes use of appropriate sustainable technologies, incorporates urban agriculture and reuses all of the site’s existing material in a slow development process.
