Thrive

Creating social sustainability through information networks.

Thrive focuses on social and cultural sustainability, in order that they be considered on the same level as economic and environmental sustainability. Thrive is a system that aims to reconnect the residents of EBD, by enabling a building’s community to exchange services with each other. Information regarding the skills, interests, needs, qualifications and availability of residents are stored on a database, accessible via a touch screen interface named Sync. Services can be requested, organised and scheduled through Sync, which also provides the means for the residents to repay the provider of a service with another service. The project focuses on the elderly, and how they will live within the EBD. What role will they have? What value can they add? Today, the elderly often go unnoticed and lack a sense of purpose, becoming disconnected from wider society. Thrive allows the elderly to play an integral role within the EBD, with the system enabling them to connect with their community on many levels.
