Sharing Fences

This community can change size or form according to the needs of the occupants.

Through understanding patterns of private blocks in the suburbs, Sharing Fences re-imagines new ways of interacting with neighbours. In this project traditional Australian timber boundary fences become the shared spaces between families and individuals. Here laundries, tool sheds, washing machines, TV rooms, and other technologies are shared between neighbours, and larger spaces are available for private homes to open out when entertaining and socialising. A variety of supportive relationships between neighbours is seen as an important step towards a sustainable suburb.
