Railway Garden

Sunshine station as a self-sufficient centre for food production and sustainable technologies.

The Railway Garden has turned Sunshine Station into a self-sufficient centre for food production and sustainable technologies. Terraced community gardens and vertical axis wind turbines on the roof of the station provide an iconic gateway for those coming to Sunshine on the train. The roofline of the platforms acknowledge the significance of manufacturing in the history of Sunshine. Wind and solar technologies feature prominently, as do rainwater harvesting and green roofs. Improved station facilities and space for markets and food swaps reinvigorate Sunshine station as a hub of community activity.
