Sunshine Station and Overpark
Reconnecting Sunshine and catalysing regeneration of the local environment.
The Sunshine Station and Overpark provides greatly improved connectivity in a suburb fractured by the rail infrastructure. Transforming the underpass from a crime-attracting link to the train station into an art gallery, this project provides safe, efficient platform connections via an overpass and a new station building in the forecourt. The northern arm of the road bridge is renewed as an overpark, giving pedestrians and cyclists priority. Water technologies are made visible throughout the site, including rainwater harvesting and recycling. The Sunshine Station and Overpark acts as a catalyst for the regeneration of a habitat corridor extending north and south beside the railway tracks.
