Sunshine Studio Atelier: Week Nine

Industry professionals consult students on their projects.

This week the Sunshine Studio was once again buzzing, with Simon Cookes’ thesis students joining us for an incredibly valuable session with some highly regarded professional consultants. Across the course of the day we heard from Dominic Li from Hyder on structures and facades, Shane Esmore from Umow Lai on ESD, and Dean Thornton from Meinhardt on Urban and Landscape Design. Some of the students had sent through detail design questions for each of the consultants with accompanying drawings, which allowed the consultants to address both broader queries about their area of specialisation as well as individual project details. We were very lucky to hear from Dominic, Shane, and Dean, who were very generous with their time and knowledge.

Students in both Michael’s and Simon’s classes had the opportunity for further individual consultations about their projects across the course of the afternoon.
