Deloitte Access Economics found that Melbourne’s foodbowl contributes $2.45 billion per annum to the city’s regional economy, and creates 21,001 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs.

The report by Deloitte Access Economics also explores:

  • The economic impact of two potential future land loss scenarios to accommodate a Melbourne population of 7 million people. Both scenarios represent a significantly lower proportion of population growth in Melbourne’s outer suburbs (and greater infill of existing residential areas) than the long term trend
  • The economic impacts of increasing demand for local food on Melbourne’s regional food economy
