Majors

The Bachelor of Design offers an exciting range of 14 majors so you can design a degree that is uniquely yours. Depending on your interests, you can choose from three study pathways: One major, two majors (double major), one major and a specialisation.

  • Interior design

Interior Design shapes the way people live, work and connect. In this major, you’ll learn to design environments that move beyond aesthetics. Spaces that engage the senses, support wellbeing and respond to how people experience the world.

  • Game design

Game Design is where creativity, storytelling and technology collide. In this major, you’ll learn how to design interactive experiences, build immersive digital worlds and craft compelling gameplay narratives that connect with players on a deeper level.

  • Architecture

The Architecture major teaches you to apply design thinking, develop creative solutions and imagine future environments for living, working and playing. You will learn to leverage increasingly sophisticated digital capabilities to solve problems in an age of environmental change, rapid urbanisation and global flows of people, materials and assets.

  • Construction

Construction professionals increasingly operate as a part of large project teams, where specialists from different disciplines work closely together to fulfil construction and design briefs. The Construction major has been specifically designed to prepare you for this challenge.

  • Landscape architecture

The Landscape Architecture major will challenge you to generate ecologically responsive and appropriate designs that consider land planning and transformation issues, sustainable design principles and natural processes.

  • Property

The Property major focuses on developing an understanding of the ownership, development, management, feasibility, funding, investment potential and occupation of land and buildings. The mix of disciplines that comprise this major are particularly targeted at industry needs, resulting in strong outcomes for our graduates.

  • Urban planning

Urban planning is the art of making places. It’s a collaborative process that shapes the physical setting for life in urban areas. In the Urban Planning major, you will develop a broad knowledge of the history, theory, leading concepts and principles of urban planning and design.

  • Performance design

Performance designers work with the human figure, space, light and sound to create beautiful and meaningful design. You will learn to manipulate these materials and explore their relationship to each other through studio-based classes alongside a comprehensive study of the theory, history and practice of performance design.

  • Graphic design

Graphic designers work within print and digital based mediums to present information in ways that are both memorable and accessible. They are visual communicators - assembling illustrations, typography, images and motion graphics to create a piece of design.

  • User experience design

The User Experience Design major will provide you with practical skills and knowledge so you can combine digital technology with design. You’ll have a special focus on digital material such as web-based media, mobile media and interactive technologies.

  • Civil engineering systems

Reimagine our cities and infrastructure in a growing world with the Civil Systems major. Learn about planning, design and construction of the built environment and explore how to interact with the natural environment to meet society’s needs. This major is the foundation for a career in civil, structural or architectural engineering.

  • Computing and software systems

The software industry is huge as we rely on data and digital systems more every day. You could design the next trending mobile app or financial products to keep the industry up to date with the latest technology. Within the major you’ll build the practical skills for programming, analysing computer networks and be able to apply these skills in a range of industries.

  • Mechanical engineering systems

Mechanical engineers design, construct, operate and maintain machines, robots, energy systems and manufacturing equipment – practically anything with moving parts. With the skills and knowledge you gain in this major, you’ll learn to create innovative solutions to global challenges in fields such as energy, transport, healthcare and more.

  • Digital infrastructure engineering systems

Everything that happens, happens somewhere. We rely so much on devices and data but how to do we capture that data? So much information depends on location. With this major, you’ll learn how to measure, analyse and display data that will change how we understand the environment around us and how we build infrastructure.
