Bharat Dave Scholarship Fund

Professor Bharat Dave joined the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning in 1997. His research revolved around spatial design practices and futures supported by digital technologies.

Bharat was also a leader in the global research community and was active in establishing Computer Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia (CAADRIA) and on the editorial board of the International Journal of Architectural Computing (UK). He is remembered for the breadth of his capacities, the depth of his knowledge and his generosity of spirit. Through his advice and actions, he helped to shape CAADRIA in many ways as we continue to see in our annual conferences.

Following Bharat’s passing in 2014, the Faculty established a Scholarship in his memory to celebrate his life and work. The Bharat Dave Scholarship will support research and learning for a student in the fields of understanding design innovation through novel approaches, processes, tools or materials. In this way, the Faculty will support research and learning in the fields of design and computation in honour of one of the pioneers of the field.

Give to the Bharat Dave Scholarship

I am honoured to be the recipient of this year's Bharat Dave Scholarship. Thank you very much for your generous support. I'm currently a PhD candidate in ABP, and my research topic aims to demonstrate a series of computational aided tools/strategies to support architectural design decisions regarding walkability issues.

Though Professor Dave passed away one year before my enrolment and I wasn't able to meet him in person, his work and contribution to the field motivated me, and certainly other young architects/urban designers, pursuing the same dream in CAAD. Receiving this scholarship is a great privilege and it will motivate to keep moving forward with my research.
