Dr Paul Loh

Professor Paul Loh is the Head of the Abedian School of Architecture and the lead coordinator of the Architecture Futures Laboratory at Bond University. Before this, he held a senior lectureship in Digital Architecture Design, Assistant Dean (IT) role and was co-director of the Advanced Digital Design and Fabrication (ADD+F) research hub at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne.

Paul studied architecture at the University of Melbourne, the University of East London (UEL), and the Architectural Association (Design Research Lab). He taught at all these institutions and lectured at ETH (Zurich), Lund University (Sweden), and Tsinghua University (China). His research focuses on the cognitive engagement of making in design practice with digital fabrication and robotics. He gained his doctorate at RMIT University with a dissertation on Digital Material Practice: the Agency of Making.

He is a UK-registered architect and founding partner of LLDS | Power to Make – a Design and Make practice based in Melbourne. His built projects have been widely published and received numerous awards, including first prize in international competitions. His drawings and art objects have been exhibited at the Science Gallery Melbourne, NGV Triennial, Royal Academy (London), London Design Festival and Frieze Art Fair.
