Phillip Greenham

Biography

Phillip Greenham has practiced construction, engineering and infrastructure law for over 35 years. He has extensive experience in contract drafting, contract administration advice and construction dispute resolution. He is highly regarded for enhancing his clients' understanding of risk allocation in commercial contracts and the inherent and particular risks in disputes. Much of Phillip’s advisory work has been to government.  This has involved advising government on procurement strategies designed to achieve social or behavioural outcomes as well as financial outcomes. Phillip has also advised on regulatory regimes impacting on the construction industry.  Phillip often presents seminars to professional associations, universities and government bodies, on a variety of topics, including effective contract management, improving contractor and consultant performance, insurance law for the construction industry and dispute avoidance. Phillip teaches as a Senior Fellow Construction Law in the Melbourne Law Masters and is an Enterprise Fellow in the Melbourne Law School.  He is also a director of the Australian Construction Industry Forum, the Chair of Architects Without Frontiers and a former Chair of the Society of Construction Law Australia.

‘Arbitration in Australia’ and ‘Arbitration in Singapore’, Phillip Greenham was co-author of these two chapters in the CMS publication ‘CMS Guide to Arbitration’ the fourth edition of which was published in hard copy in 2012.  The publication discusses arbitration in 33 jurisdictions around the world.  It provides a very useful guide for those participating in international arbitration and those interested in implementing the most flexible and suitable arbitration procedures.
