Design Making – Making Design presents design prototypes and creative speculations, developed by students in the Digital Design and Fabrication Electives (DD+F).

These electives include the Experimental Furniture Futures Laboratory (Ex_Lab), Bespoke Timber Furniture Laboratory (F_Lab), Spatial Information Laboratory (Si_Lab), Digital Fabrication Laboratory (DF_Lab), and Made by Robots Laboratory (R_Lab) at the Melbourne School of Design.

The Digital Design and Fabrication Electives enable students to gain expertise and competence in the understanding and application of contemporary design tools. While presenting students with new design opportunities, the electives combine physical and digital prototyping with creative thinking.

The DD+F electives are led by industry experts and experienced design leaders. The suite of electives is associated with the Advanced Digital Design + Fabrication (ADD+F) Research Hub at MSD. Prototypes and physical artefacts are fabricated in the Maker Spaces at MSD.

Students benefit from the teaching and research of hub members and from the expertise of industry experts and Maker Space staff.
