ABP Quiet Room
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning Quiet Room is a dedicated space for ABP staff and RHD students who need to care for their children while at work or as a quiet and peaceful space to engage in religious observances and personal reflection. The room is available for booking via the Outlook Calendar.
Please note that this room is not to be used as a meeting room or study space.
Here are some guidelines for accessing the ABP Quiet Room:
Bookings:
Please ensure that the room is booked via the Outlook Calendar for the period of use before you enter. (Room Name: !ABP Quiet Room)
Access:
Currently access is automatically added to all ABP Staff and RHD Students. If students require access, please email abp-facilities@unimelb.edu.au.
Before you enter:
Please swipe your access card on the outside reader located near the door entrance. It is advisable that users slide the display to “In Use” on the door before entering.
Using the space:
Once you are inside the room, push the black button located on the wall to lock the door.
Leaving the space:
When leaving, please swipe your card via the reader located on the wall to unlock the door from inside. Please slide the display to “Quiet Room” when exiting.
Supplies:
We provide seating, refrigerator for storing milk and basic amenities. Please bring your own supplies such as wipes and bottles. Please leave the room better than you found it. Please clean up after use. Also, the room will be equipped with a prayer mat if you intend to engage in religious observances.
Cleanliness:
Users are asked to ensure the Quiet Room is left in a clean and tidy condition after use. Any rubbish must be taken out of the room and disposed of by the user.

What to do in an emergency?
Do not panic! Please contact security on 03 834 46666 and state room number 335.
In the event that the door's automatic unlocking mechanism fails and poses a security concern, you can still exit the room by breaking the glass door.
