What We Do

The Built Environments Learning + Teaching (BEL+T) group supports and strengthens teaching across the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. We work collaboratively with academic staff, professional teams, and leadership to enhance the quality of learning, teaching, and assessment in built environment education.

Our work includes:

  • Curriculum Design and Subject Development
We assist with designing new subjects, refining existing ones, and aligning curriculum with learning outcomes, accreditation, and industry relevance.
  • Assessment Design and Review
We support the development of authentic, inclusive, and effective assessment tasks that are aligned with subject and program-level goals.
  • Learning Technologies and Digital Pedagogy
We provide guidance on the use of Canvas, video, 3D platforms, collaborative tools, and generative AI to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Professional Development and Workshops
BEL+T hosts regular workshops and events focused on emerging teaching practices, university initiatives, and key challenges in higher education.
  • Resource and Guidance Development
We create evidence-informed guides, templates, and exemplars to support staff in navigating educational tools, policy changes, and pedagogical approaches.
  • Strategic Projects and Research
Our team contributes to faculty-wide initiatives and undertakes applied research on topics such as feedback literacy, AI in education, virtual site visits, and inclusive assessment.

We work across all modes of teaching—on campus, online, blended, and hybrid—and welcome collaboration with staff at any stage of a subject’s lifecycle. Whether you're designing a new elective, responding to student feedback, or exploring new technologies, BEL+T is here to help.
