On Wednesday 1 May, the Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ASCILITE) will co-host a webinar with the Assessment in Higher Education Network (UK): GenAI in Assessment - Institution and Program Tactics.

Chaired by James Wood, (University of Bangor, UK), the session will run from 5:00 - 6:00 PM, Melbourne time, and will feature two presentations:

Providing AI guidance through COMPASS: Did students take the right direction?

Philip Denton, from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, will report on a protocol developed to communicate AI permissions in assessment (COMPASS).  From the event page: "[A]s we rethink assessment in response to AI, it is expected that there will be shift from assessing written products in isolation to an  increased emphasis on the process of learning... ...As  assessment becomes more of a journey than a destination, a clear sense  of direction becomes more important."

A course-wide approach to developing staff and students’ generative AI critical literacy.

Susie Macfarlane, Megan Dennis and Emily  Tomlinson, from Deakin University, will report on an empowering and educative approach "...to facilitate academics and course teams to discuss and critically engage with GenAI, adapt assessment practices to respond to GenAI, and  provide students the opportunity to use GenAI transparently and  responsibly".
