GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships 2023

The GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships are prestigious awards established to recognise, reward and further develop the University of Melbourne’s academic teaching staff. The Fellowship program is supported through the GEM Scott Trust. Up to two GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships – valued at up to $70,000 each – will be awarded in 2023.

The broad focus of the GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships is to support a significant program of work that aims to improve and enhance curriculum design and development, teaching, learning and assessment, innovative pedagogical practice and/or the student experience at the University. The award of a GEM Scott Teaching Fellowship will support a Program of Activity that will be carried out by the recipient over 12 - 18 months.

There are two stages of application for this fellowship.

Stage 1 is an Expression of Interest proposing a Strategic Project. The Project can address a priority area, but this is not a requirement for funding. The priority areas for this round are:

  • Creating socially connected, wellbeing supportive learning environments
  • Engagement with Indigenous knowledges
  • Internationalisation of the curriculum and intercultural learning
  • Work integrated and experiential learning

Applicants who wish to discuss their proposal prior to submission of their EOI, are invited to email office-provost@unimelb.edu.au to organise a meeting by Friday 24 February 2023 at the latest. Applicants are also encouraged to reach out to BEL+T at abp-belt@unimelb.edu.au to discuss proposal ideas.

Expression of Interest close at 5pm, Friday 10 March. Subsequently, successful applicants will be invited to submit a full application.
