The Office of the Provost is pleased to invite applications for the 2026 Learning and Teaching Initiative (LTI) Grants.
Key dates
- Applications for the 2026 general round open on Monday 18 May and close at 5pm Friday 24 July 2026.
- LTI grant information session – Thursday 28 May 11am-12pm
The CSHE will host an LTI grant information session (including Q&A) covering LTI funding, eligibility and timelines, with practical application guidance and reflections from previous awardees. All staff considering applying are encouraged to attend. Details and registration on the CSHE website. - LTI grant writing workshop – Wednesday 10 June (in-person), Thursday 11 June (online)
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Community of Practice will host an LTI grant‑writing workshop offering hands‑on scholarly support, peer feedback, and opportunities to connect with staff developing LTI‑aligned teaching and learning proposals. Details and registration on the SoTL page. - ABP designing SoTL workshop - Wednesday 24 June 10.30-11.30am
BEL+T hosted project development workshop for LTI applicants and those wishing to develop a case study, focusing on Built Environment approaches, peer feedback, and collaboration.
Technology-based initiatives
The Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI) team of learning designers, online teaching and learning specialists, software developers and video producers also offer support for LTI grants. Applicants are encouraged to speak TLI to determine realistic estimates of development costs associated with learning design and assessment, software development and video and media proposals.
For initiatives that are AI-related, applicants are strongly encouraged to review the University’s AI guidelines and resources.
2026 LTI grant priority areas
- Transforming assessment practices for authentic and assured learning
- Adapting curriculum design and teaching practices in response to GenAI
- Strengthening student engagement and support
- Engaging with the touchstones of Indigenous knowledges, sustainability, arts and culture, and digital sensibility
- Enhancing student employability
- Creating inclusive, accessible and equitable learning environments.
LTI successful proposal reference library
Based on community feedback, a reference library of previous successful LTI grant proposals is now available on the Staff Hub. Use the search and filter functions to find proposals from previous years. These proposals have been shared to support prospective applicants and should be treated as confidential.
Who can apply for an LTI grant?
Academic or professional staff who are employed by the University beyond the envisaged end date of the project. Team-based and cross-faculty projects are encouraged.
Faculty rankings
Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their proposals with their Associate Deans responsible for curriculum and teaching, and other teaching and learning leaders in their faculty. Faculty leaders are asked to rank proposals from their faculty as part of the selection process. Please ensure you review any LTI-specific guidelines within your faculty, if applicable. ABP staff may send a draft proposal to the ABP Associate Dean (Education) Ajibade Aibinu at aaibinu@unimelb.edu.au.
