Led by Agnes Bosanquet (Torrens University) and Marina Harvey (Macquarie University), Contemporary Approaches to University Teaching is a free massive open online course intended for any educators seeking to enhance their teaching and their students' learning. The course won the 2024 CAULLT/HERDSA Award for Outstanding Leadership in Research and Development in Higher Education

Study is self-paced in two-hour modules with 24 modules and 3 resources available. There are four optional pathways: new to teaching, enhancing student learning, enhancing your teaching practice or leading learning and teaching. Digital badges are offered for each pathway.

Alternatively or additionally, University of Melbourne teaching staff may be interested in the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education's Certificate in Small-Group Teaching or Melbourne Teaching Certificate. Expressions of interest in those programs are also currently open for Semester 1, 2026.
