This pavilion is centred around the blending of the landscape with built form to allow visitors to experience and view the surrounding environment in a new way. In order to create an ever changing experience of the pavilion, it has an adaptive facade that opens and closes over time. Aluminium was chosen for the facade to reflect views, create a feeling of lightness, and to allow the pavilion to blend in with the landscape. Concrete was used for the landscape due to its high thermal mass and its ability to maintain a comfortable microclimate. The landscape consists of stacked cubes of varying heights, providing opportunities for people to use the space in different ways. By sinking the landscape, private spaces for users are created. The stacked landscape also helps to enhance the acoustic performance by reflecting the sound back to the audiences.
