For the setting design, I decided to make the stage become a street in Soho, London as The Threepenny Opera set in Victorian London. I have researched on the architecture and the street of  Victorian London, the buildings are usually made with red brick and concrete. Therefore, I used red brick exterior wall of building as the backdrop of the performance. Throughout the performance, there are many characters appear in the one scene. If all the characters are standing together in a same level, it will be hard for audience to observe the movement and the act of performer. Therefore, I decided to use the balcony on upper level as an extended stage for performer to stand in a higher position to gain attention from audience. Also, the stairs connecting the main stage and the balcony is also a zone for performer to stand higher to act. The desk placed under the stair is movable stage that can put at the centre of the stage for performer to stand on it. The desk and the two stepped stair around the brick wall can act as seats for the actors to sit on stage while they are not acting. The two stepped stair on the two side of downstage is the place for orchestra team.
