The makers may be engineers, craftsmen, sculptors, and painters, but no matter what occupation they are, most of them are people with ideas. They convert ideas into products and bring products or artworks to the public. So, in my opinion, the maker needs a suitable space to display his ideas and achievements, and the citizens have the desire to see these ideas and products.

Therefore, the main concept of this design is to provide high-quality public space, so that the maker can easily display their ideas and concepts, and the citizens can also communicate with the maker, inspire them or express their own opinions.

To realize the communication between the maker and the ordinary residents, I lifted the new part of the building with columns and suspended it on the heritage building, just like a heavy stone floating on the old brick wall. The old and new parts are separated by glass, which creates an exhibition space. The handicrafts made by the maker can be directly displayed to the residents, and they can exchange ideas with each other in this space.
