2+1 Channels is a live/work house, including two-family dwellings located in South Yarra, Melbourne. The house reacts to the 21st Century residential demand and challenges that people can live in a customized residence can work and living seamlessly, rather than nowadays traditional domesticity that built-in excessive way and ignoring the local characteristic. 2+1 Channels also concert the connection between humans and the site with innovative, critiquing, environmentally responsible, and culturally sensitive methods.

2+1 Channels inspired by the idea of cooperating indigenous symbolism into the architectural language in spatial and tectonic aspects, then challenge to use repetitional blade walls to represent as structure, aesthetic expression, functional and responsible for sustainability. Consider the needs of the client. The experience means in a linear circulation, west dwelling more open to public and east dwelling celebrating the privacy and garden.

Different programs sit along with the channels. The rhythm generated from the blade walls, fragment the surrounding views to represent the different experience within these clients’ various memories and connections to the significant site natural moments by large opening and pause of the rhythm.
