TROMGIN HOUSE

Stonnington known as “Tromgin” in aboriginal language means “Place of Gathering”. The site is surrounded by many aboriginal historical makers where used to be aboriginal campsite and meeting place, where they dwell, gather and share journey and life with family, clans and community along the Yarra River with centralised and concentric layout as the aboriginal meeting place symbol.

LOOP DOMESTICITY
A couple is planning their dream home where they can live together with their elderly parent, children. With working space as their future design firm where they can WORK + LIVE together from home, inviting guest and visitor into the dwelling. The idea is direct response to the demands of shaping the family house around the daily lives of occupants with a closed loop shape and continuous circulation between collective and individual domesticity, while integrating the surrounding natural landscape.

ABORIGINAL DOTTED PAINTING
In the dot painting style, aboriginal artists may “overlapping” or "enclosing" the repetition dots within other larger circles, creating interweaving effects and journey paths.

ABORIGINAL WEAVING TECHNIQUE
The repetition of weaving technique has been used as an Indigenous method to create tools, baskets, fishing nets and skin cloaks and ceremonial purpose for centuries.
