“Intangible woman, ambiguous space, pomelo trees,

To find you, I move into the fish's eye, staring at the passing foam.”

The project, ‘Sub Memory’ experiments with turning the ephemeral images of memory into three-dimensional spaces; from intangible to tangible and by illustrating fragmented memories of love through a continuous spatial experience in a dream, underwater.

The underwater dream space and imagery around water and depth were extracted from Bi Gan’s award-winning 2018 film, ‘Long Day’s Journey into Night’.In the film, fragmented and montaged moments from the past are transformed into a seamless continuous dream. By inviting an audience into the inner dream and reveries and by manipulating time, the project carefully delves into the spaces of the film for the purposes of collecting forgotten memories within a submerged space.
