Exploring the ideas of density and diversity in order to create a vertical condensed city; condens-ing the strengths of the city or traditional village to explore the importance of gathering, shared space and the public realm in the creation of community, combining elements of urban Japan and urban Melbourne. Diversity as an important driver of resilience, creating opportunities for ex-change, spatial and economic efficiency and density drawing on elements of the laneway and compact living in urban Japan. The project as kind of urban experiment around the creation of community through program which prioritises the shared and the public over the private, which works to build dense layers of physical and visual connections.
