The weaver house is a community that consists of communal workspaces open to the public, and residences for basket weavers, apprentices and guest accommodation. Basket weaving is the craft of weaving materials into 2 or 3 dimensional objects, consisting of both delicate and heavy work. The concept of this project is to weave the space, explored in the overlapping interior and exterior spaces, creating a connection between different levels, and creating small moments at thresholds which represents the gap between woven strips.

The design consists of several courtyards, planted with bamboos around the amenities to allow users to feel closer to the nature while crafting or residing in the building. Joineries and lighting fixtures are designed to enhance the appreciation towards the craft, especially the lighting fixture in the heavy workspace area. The lighting design is integrated under the bamboo drying bench and uses short bamboo sections to cast shadows. When the bamboos are placed on the rack for drying, the shadows weave together with the shadow casted out from the inbuilt lighting, creating an illusion of a bamboo forest on the working surface.
