This house is designed for a Boomer couple with their children’s families and Airbnb clients. The concept derived from the conflict between sharing space and private space in the multi-generational living mode, which has become popular in Australian. “There is always someone there” is the biggest advantage but also disadvantages of this living style. The very first concern of this design is to ensure boomers to have more social opportunities but at the same time to maximally provide the privacy for each resident. Hence, every family owns an individual unit, including the living room, kitchen, and laundry. The sharing and public space work as the buffer zones between each family space. The boomers’ unit is highlighted with the angled wall at the ground floor, which is next to the communal living room. The second generations’ family sits on the upper floor with a level difference. The front house for Airbnb is separated from the boomers’ family by a long corridor and the swimming pool. Individual courtyards are also provided for single rooms to celebrate the individuality. Every space in this house is about the duality of multi-generational life.
