Nostalgia is not only the yearning for the past associated with happiness, but also a means to establish attachment to the present.

Nostalgia has been shown to reduce anxiety that occurs when we transition to a foreign place or to a new phase in our lives, as ‘we comfort ourselves by reliving memories of protection’ (Bachelard, Poetics of Space).

This project aims to evoke nostalgia for place making and community building by introducing engaging architectural elements that allow the residents to see and experience the world through a child’s perspective again.
