Urban Wildlife Park Design

This project was intended to accommodate ecological succession alongside human habitation. The main idea was to create a balance between the non-human living organisms such as flora and fauna, and us, the humans. The flora and faunas focused on this projects are the Growling Grass Frog, Common-Brown Butterfly, and Common Tussock Grass, which, through a series of research, are found to have a dependency on each other: correlating life-cycles and food web, as well as habitat requirements. Growling Grass Frog was chosen as one of the main fauna species in the project as it is currently a rare species, and this project was designed to suit the restoration of the species. The flora within this design mainly focused on the frog, butterfly, and other complementary species’ habitats, while some are chosen for visual experience purposes. The whole site was designed to have a shifting vegetation groups, from grassy wetland, grassland, and heathland.
