Iris is the Greek form of a very ancient god associated with rainbows. A messenger spirit, who the poet Ovid described as illuminating even the underworld.

This design is based around the use of projected light as an extension of her costume, informing the large white areas of robe and a billowing sheer veil which can intercept and hold this light in the air. While in motion a performer might make graceful use of the wheels on her heels by shifting weight using the staff, a modified caduceus.

In reference to her origins she wears both advanced geometrics and pan-Mediterranean features in her jewellery, which hold retroreflective jewels. Her long moulded glove and boots give a directionality to her bare features, as though she is emerging from statuesque bronze or orichalcum.
