Modular Concordia

Rebalancing Human + Nature

Modular Concordia explores a modular framework proposal that reconnects and rebalances human and nature. The journey to net-zero ambulance station branch begins at the very beginning of the design in focusing on a holistic design strategy.

Modular strategy becomes the nexus of the design as Ambulance Victoria branches will have similar configurations and requirements across different sites. Modules are optimised within a set kit-of-parts that will become the lexicon for future ambulance branches. This strategy minimises construction waste and time that leads to the reduction of carbon. The modules are also designed within a set of materials that have low embodied energy while allowing for
futureproofing as newer eco-friendly materials are being discovered or produced.

Furthermore, the modular framework allows paramedics and users to be integrated into the design phase as they are able to modify and specify the modules as needed. Inclusion of the paramedics means a better agency against operational energy measures as modules will be adapted across different usage and requirements.

The modules are arranged within different sites according to Biophilic and Passive strategies.
This strategy ensures that design can be replicable and adaptable across future branches
while leveraging Ambulance Victoria as a platform that restores ecology across the land,
promoting harmony between human and nature as a collective.
