Foundation House

"A home that provides the foundations for economic
support and social networks, through creating community"

Foundation House will be multi-generational development, curated to a diverse range of demographics from first home buyers to retires. Unlike a typical multi-gen development, this development will be curated and target at single, divorced, and widowed women, providing this demographic with a support network of new opportunities, scarce in today's society.

The rationale behind the clientele of single women is due to the alarming rates of poverty amongst single, divorced, or widowed women. Within Australia "34 % of single women in Australia live in poverty [by the age of 60]" (Health, 2017).

This Future housing model aims to provide relief to the barriers that society has constructed against women in their equal opportunity to work; providing women with both a financial support network, through economic opportunities integrated within the housing model, as well as child support opportunities.

The generation of community within Foundation House, and more broadly the suburb, is essential in creating a social network for residents. A strong community will drive the success of financial support networks through inviting neighbours in, while also creating social opportunities for residents experiencing loneliness or isolation.

Security and Privacy is as an essential desire for our client group and thus carefully curated thresholds will allow for the balance between public and private zones. Allowing for a sense of community to develop in publicly accessible zones, while maintaining a sense of security and safety amongst residents.
