The NGV-C project aims to exhibit a diverse contemporary art collection in more interdisciplinary ways, providing visitors with positive and engaging experiences. The project is located among an artistic precinct in Melbourne, on a site that intends to CONNECT THE SOUTHBANK WITH THE CBD OF MELBOURNE THROUGH AN INTERACTIVE SPATIAL JOURNEY.

What distinguishes the contemporary gallery from a traditional one is the INCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC in the gallery’s functions; the engagement in interactive communication where the GALLERY SPACE TRANSFORMS INTO A LANDMARK THAT BRINGS TOGETHER HISTORY, ART AND CULTURE.

My design aims to create a volume that dissolves into a SPACE OF PASSAGES AND TRANSFORMS THE RIGID OBJECT INTO A MORE FLUID ENTITY. The promenade walk connecting to the built galleries will stretch into ONE CONTINUOUS ROUTE ON DIFFERENT LEVELS achieving the concept of the space of passages. This stretch would CONTINUE IN THE INDOOR ENCLOSED GALLERY SPACES TO CREATE THE ENDLESS LOOP OR JOURNEY.
