This masterplan proposal focuses on the adaptive re-use of the surrounding environment to weave and enhance the connectivity between student and nature as a pinnacle design idea while concurrently building towards carbon neutrality by consulting with light and nature to harness its energy and atmospheric qualities to achieve resource efficiency before tapping into active strategies.

By using one of school’s strongest opportunity of expansive roof areas, the proposal introduces monocrystalline PV cells and rainwater catchments as an energy harvesting and cost-reductive solution. Additionally, replacing the school’s old boiler system with the use of air source heat pumps to deliver a further 50% efficiency in heating and cooling for the school.

Stage 1 proposal introduces a full CLT Art/Stem building with 3 additional specialized classroom and centralized landscape connections to the new built and existing building vicinities. Topography is introduced as an interactive environmental approach with tree canopies and rest areas that present opportunities for outdoor learning areas.

Stage 2 proposal focuses on refurbishments and reconfiguration of the entrance as a new frontage for the school. The extension of the existing assembly hall will accommodate to the desired capacity of 500 students and give ample space to encourage multi-purpose indoor functions such as a sports hall or drama and arts performance.

Stage 3 proposal focuses on the introduction and reorientation of relocatable to better align passive strategies, and connectivity by providing a sheltered congregation area to the south as an outdoor hub for outdoor learning and rest areas for users.}
