COMMHAUS

COMMHAUS seeks to be a catalyst for industry change creating a model that not only allows for the anticipated densification of Melbourne, but also maintains the current suburban qualities currently highly sought after in Melbourne’s middle suburbs.

Our project is built upon clusters of households within a larger community where residents’ lives are enhanced by not only the social aspects of integrated living, but also through the benefits of selective shared spaces.

By achieving a balance between moments of privacy with aspects of communal living, our model drives down both living and environmental impact costs.

Commhaus is an adaptable housing cooperative model where a diverse set of housing typologies are provided through a participatory design process resulting in an architectural outcome that  caters for many lifestyles and many lifestyle changes over time.

With a strong relationship between the internal and external, Commhaus provides high quality communal spaces that encourage interaction and relationships. With the broader community also considered through scale, form and materiality that link Commhaus to its neighbouring properties, helping people to connect to the design, again enforcing the importance of community
