Living in the future-work with home

Melbourne is a well-known international city. The livability attracts hundreds and thousands of people to live. The population of Melbourne will increase from 4.5 million in 2015 to 9 million in 2056. At the same time, the Middle suburban area will also sprawl rapidly. If Melbourne keeps develop itself traditionally. We will see higher population density, more people use the car to get to work. Some citizens may take more than two hours to commute. And environmental problems such as greenhouse gas emission, loss of food-growing land, heat island effect will impact humans severely in the future.

Work with home

This project is a collective house intends to cater to the home office demand in the future. The residents will participate in the preliminary design. The design process includes discovering how to combine home and workplace and create a better relationship between private and public.  Design the housing unit in terms of the family’s preference and properly organize them.

While society has never been the same it changes for reasons - Climate change, social revolution, Advanced technology, or other things. We believe in the future, technology development will bring us a more convenient way to communicate without face to face. People who can not tolerate the long-term commute or able to work remotely will choose to work from home. The Covid-19 accelerates this trend. For now, with the help of technology like Zoom, Google file, Skype, etc some jobs and education are proofed can be done as well as the traditional way.
