THE MIDDLE GROUND

While a home is a place of individuality and conformity, this scheme aims to bring residents of different backgrounds and generations together through a sequence of shared spaces with varying levels of privacy.

The threshold between both communal and private spaces are blurred to enhance the livelihood of the community through social and economic exchanges.

The design responses to sustainability as it has the potential for flexibility to accommodate future needs of inhabitants.

The informal stacking of the units forms unintentional, in-between spaces which allow the user to determine the usage of the space as a form of identity and expression. It is the in-between spaces that spark encounters and encourage interaction among inhabitants.
