The high evaporation rate and high salinity in the water are two major issues in the Darebin park leachate system. In my proposal, grey water from sewage pipelines and stormwater collected from nearby streets and rooftops can be used to mitigate these two issues.

There are three stages in my scheme. The first stage will happen within 1 O years. Stormwater will be collected from the curb and stored in three underground tanks. During the dry season, stormwater can be pumped into the duck pond directly to mitigate the evaporation issue and salinity issue. WSUD strategies will be integrated into the proposal at this stage. Several rain gardens will start to be built by the street side to collect and purify stormwater.

The second stage is from 1 0 to 20 years, a water purification terrace will be built to treat grey water and a small amount of stormwater before they enter the duck pond. The water treatment landscape will also increase the aesthetic and public park function of the park. People can enjoy the view of the water purification terrace by strolling on the trail. They can also engage in the water purification process through spurting out stormwater from the spouting machine in the stormwater spouting square.

The third stage is from 20 to 30 years, there will be more rain gardens by the roadside, and the park manager can work with the city council to extend the stormwater underground pipeline network to collect more water from nearby rooftop.
